WHO WE ARE

Dave Beal

Cofounder, Dave Beal has been teaching at Windsor High School for twelve years. He has been teaching art in public schools for twenty-eight. A graduate of the University of Hawaii, he taught on Oahu for a year before moving to Atlanta to start a family. He taught there for fifteen years at two Fulton County schools, receiving teacher of the year honors at both.  He was also awarded the Georgia Elementary Art Educator of the Year by the Georgia Art Educators Association. He currently teaches two sections of introductory art, the focus area sections for the Nueva School for the Arts, and serves as the school's yearbook adviser. ​

Michella Snider [English]

Michella "Mikey" Snider is the Nueva English teacher.  She has worked in education since she was 16 years old, starting her career a dance educator with the Kathrine Wheeler Dancers.  She has followed this love for dance, art, theater and education throughout her life, leading her to a degree in English Language Arts from Sonoma State University, and a teaching credential from Dominican University.  Mikey is current the resident choreographer for Spreckels Theater Company in Rohnert Park, and teaches Tap and Musical Theater with the Movement Lab in Santa Rosa.

John Richards

John Richards is the Nueva Social Studies teacher as well as the Program Coordinator.  John holds a BA and an MA in History from Sonoma State University, as well as teaching credentials in both Social Studies and English Language Arts.  In 2017, John helped found the AME academy, a 9/10 student program that reaches a younger population of artists and creators.  

John loves making art and teaching kids, Nueva and AME have given him the outlet to do both.

Allison attended the Evergreen State College in Olympia Washington in 1998 and graduated from Sonoma State University in 2004 with a degree in American Multicultural Studies. She holds four teaching credentials: Multiple Subject, Single Subject (English, Dance, Physical Education) and Designated subjects for the Arts, Media, and Entertainment industry sector .  She completed an Masters Degree in Educational Technology at CSUF in 2017 where she received the Elwin Carr Fellow for excellence in educational leadership. Allison began her career in education as a district intern with Windsor Unified School District where she has worked for 15 years. She founded and directs Windsor High School's Dance Program, and the Nueva School for the Arts, a California Partnership Academy and demonstration site for the California Department of Education. In addition to teaching, she currently works as Career Technical Education coordinator and professional coach, is a member of the WUSD arts strategic planning and LCAP committees, and works closely with the California Department of Education on the state advisory board for the Arts Media and Entertainment industry sector. She was selected as the Region 1 Educator of the year for 2017 by the California League of High School Educators and recently launched a nonprofit Arts Education organization called Pulse Arts. 
​Allison currently works for the CDE and oversees the CTE and CPA pathways for the entire state of California.

Cofounder, Chris Vetrano worked in the field of education for eighteen years before retiring from her administrative position in 2015. She holds credentials in English, Art, Social Studies and Chemistry. Her Master's Degree in Education from Sonoma State University is in Curriculum and Instruction. Before coming to Windsor Unified, she taught in Santa Rosa City Schools where she started the successful ArtQuest program at Santa Rosa High School.  In 1999 she joined the Windsor High School staff where she was an English teacher in the Digital Communications program for five years and was an administrator for seven years.
