Nueva instructors thrive on innovation. We are always looking for new ways to engage students and create authentic learning experiences, We understand the importance of digital literacy and ongoing professional development, and value the reflection and self assessment process.
Our approach is interdisciplinary. Teachers plan thematically, and flexibility in scheduling allows for co-teaching, project based learning, and guest teacher workshops.
All assignments are submitted digitally which allows teachers to interact with student work using comments and chat tools. Students complete annotations, research and critical reading assignments by using these same features. In class, students regularly participate in Socratic seminars, Design Thinking challenges, and reader's theater workshops. Small group projects and discussions, learning stations, and flipped classroom strategies give students choice and help build community.
Jupiter Grades is an online grading program with a discussion forum. It encourages students to take an active role in monitoring progress. Online forums allows students of different learning styles to access curriculum in ways that they might not be able to within the confines of a traditional classroom. Using video and website links coupled with teacher-generated prompts, students discuss and debate within an online forum.

The soft skills of communication, goal setting, team management, collaboration, problem solving, public speaking, and flexibility are specifically addressed and developed. Through our internships and collaboration with professional consultants, we aim to create more community related experiences for students and better tie our students’ studies to the real world.
